چکیده

We have derived a new analytic formula for evaluating the derivatives of a matrix exponential. In contrast to some existing methods, eigenvalues and eigenvectors do not appear explicitly in the formulae, although we show that a necessary and sufficient condition for the validity of the formulae is that the matrix has distinct eigenvalues. The new formula expresses the derivatives of a matrix exponential in terms of minors, polynomials, exponential of the matrix as well as matrix inver-

A note on parameter differentiation of matrix exponentials, with applications to continuous-time modelling

We propose a new analytic formula for evaluating the derivatives of a matrix exponential. In contrast to the diagonalization method, eigenvalues and eigenvectors do not appear explicitly in the derivation, although we show that a necessary and sufficient condition for the validity of the formula is that the matrix has distinct eigenvalues. The new formula expresses the derivatives of a matrix e...

Exponential fitting BDF algorithms and their properties

We present two families of explicit and implicit BDF formulas, capable of the exact integration (with only round-off errors) of differential equations which solutions belong to the space generated by the linear combinations of exponential of matrices, products of the exponentials by polynomials and products of those matrices by ordinary polynomials. Those methods are suitable for stiff and high...

A Modified Description of Early Time High-altitude Electromagnetic Pulse Waveform (E1)

The mathematical description of High-altitude Electromagnetic Pulse (HEMP) waveform (E1) in the standard of IEC 61000-2-9 is the difference of double exponentials (DEXP). However, in this description there is a discontinuity of the first derivative at the initial time of waveform. Another analytic waveform description, the quotient of double exponentials (QEXP) has the advantage of all time der...

Parameter estimation for multivariate exponential sums

The recovery of signal parameters from noisy sampled data is an essential problem in digital signal processing. In this paper, we discuss the numerical solution of the following parameter estimation problem. Let h0 be a multivariate exponential sum, i.e., h0 is a finite linear combination of complex exponentials with distinct frequency vectors. Determine all parameters of h0, i.e., all frequenc...

Nonlinear approximation by sums of nonincreasing exponentials

Many applications in electrical engineering, signal processing, and mathematical physics lead to following approximation problem: Let h be a short linear combination of nonincreasing exponentials with complex exponents. Determine all exponents, all coefficients, and the number of summands from finitely many equispaced sampled data of h. This is a nonlinear inverse problem. This paper is an exte...
